FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions
Who will respond to my enquiry?
Our team will respond within 24 hours. If you are enquiring from a jurisdiction within a different time zone, please let us know so that we can arrange a mutually convenient time to speak if the enquiry cannot be answered by email.
Can I get assistance for a death enquiry?
In some cases, we can assist where there were factors to consider such as toxicology or injuries sustained when the person was still living. We can provide an opinion on a person’s medical issues and the care they received prior to their death; or their capacity to drive in the case of a road traffic fatality; or on photographs of their injuries. In the case of autopsy findings, we will offer you guidance on obtaining appropriate expertise.
Are you able to give advice and an opinion over the phone?
When we receive your enquiry, we will contact you with general advice as to whether we can assess your case with a view to providing a written report. If we assess your case, it will be at no cost to you as we understand that there may be circumstances or considerations about the case where we will not be able to provide the service that you are looking for. After a review of preliminary materials supplied by you, we will determine whether we can provide a written report and will contact you to agree on next steps.
How much will you charge for a written report?
The cost will depend on the complexity of the work required. After an initial free consultation, we will provide you with a quote for our service.
How long will it take to get a written report?
This also depends on the complexity of the case and can be discussed at the initial consultation. If there is urgency, we will take this into account.
Can a private individual request your services?
Yes, but our preference would be that enquiries come from police, health institutions or legal representatives. The reason for this is that a private individual may not have access to the extent of information that is necessary for us to provide an opinion.
Can you run short courses in various aspects of forensic medicine?
Yes, we run training and educational packages for groups of all sizes. Please contact us with your requirements and we can discuss the options we have available.
Who do you run training courses for?
We can tailor our courses to suit many professionals including clinical groups (doctors, nurses, paramedics, allied health staff), legal groups (judges, lawyers, support staff), and police.
