Nicola Cunningham

Nicola is a senior medical specialist with dual Fellowships in Forensic Medicine and Emergency Medicine; who has a Master of Forensic Medicine; and a Master of Health and Medical Law. In addition to her clinical work, Nicola holds several concurrent roles in state government and national organisations as an expert on patient safety and medical education.She has worked in the field of clinical forensic medicine and emergency
medicine for more than 20 years and is highly sought after for her medical expertise as well as her experience in clinical governance, risk and quality, across the clinical, administrative, and research aspects of her work. Her special area of interest is injury interpretation and analysis of medical records for road traffic and assault cases.

Dr Angela Sungaila
MBBS, MForensMed, JD, GDLP, FFCFM (RCPA)
Angela is a doctor and an Australian lawyer. She has Fellowship in Forensic Medicine, Master of Forensic Medicine, a Certificate in Addiction Medicine, and a Certificate in Clinical Research methods. She has an appointment with a State Tribunal as a sessional member. Her special interest and an area for which she has extensive experience is the clinical effects of drugs of abuse and the effect that they have on driving and behaviour. She has a wealth of expertise in all aspects of forensic medical work. She is sought after for her opinions on toxicological analysis, and injury interpretation based on review of medical records.

Dr Jo Ann Parkin
B Ed, B App Sci (Hons), MBBS, M Forens Med, FFCFM (RCPA)
Jo Ann is a senior forensic physician with a Fellowship in Forensic Medicine. She has a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours, and Master of Forensic Medicine. Jo Ann has worked in the field of clinical forensic medicine for 15 years with extensive experience in academia and community education, research and emergency medicine. She is an expert in injury interpretation in the acute clinical setting through to the post-acute setting of medical record analysis. Jo Ann has co-ordinated and taught this specialty subject in the Master of Forensic Medicine, Monash University, and has trained many medical practitioners in this area. She is an expert in medical issues surrounding non-fatal strangulation and has been involved in the education of frontline health, allied health and law enforcement staff on the topic for many years.

Dr Caroline Bolt
MBChB, FACEM
Caroline is a senior emergency medicine specialist, with knowledge and experience in clinical forensic medicine. She has worked in tertiary trauma centres, and this combined with her current clinical practice in a major metropolitan hospital as an emergency physician gives her expertise in understanding injury patterns, acute and chronic medical conditions, the effects of prescription medications and illicit substances, and analysis and interpretation of complex medical records. Her experience and training in clinical forensic medicine allows her to understand mechanisms and consequences of injury through the lens of the law and the courts.

Dr Peter McNeill
MBBS, FRACS, FRCP(Ed), LLB
Peter is an Australian trained neurosurgeon. After obtaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he undertook postgraduate training in the United Kingdom and returned to work in Australia where he was Director of Neurosurgery for some time. He has wide experience in the management of neurosurgical conditions with major emphasis on intracranial tumours. He has been actively involved in teaching and training at all levels, particularly advanced trainees. He has a Bachelor of Laws degree which gives him valuable insight into the interaction between clinical practice and the law. His opinion on medicolegal matters has been sought widely. He is a sessional member of a State Tribunal dealing with matters of professional review and regulation. In recognition of his clinical, teaching and research work, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Dr Supriya Rama Krishnan
MBBS, FRACP, MForensMed
Supriya is a geriatrician with experience across the full spectrum of geriatric medicine. She has ongoing involvement in supervising advanced trainees and junior doctors in hospitals and clinics. Towards the end of her geriatric specialist training, Supriya worked in a Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit and subsequently completed a Master of Forensic Medicine. She currently works as a consultant geriatrician in two public hospitals and in private practice. Her expertise is in cognitive, chronic diseases and physical assessments, with complex case management and prognostication of geriatric-related conditions. She provides expert opinions in elder abuse cases and comprehensive physical and cognitive assessments of older adults in the criminal justice system.
